Beautiful Song

I just discovered this song on Pandora and I’m obsessed.

While this song’s  lyrics can be depressing, I also find it deep and meaningful. I also love the video–it’s nice to know at least some artists put some creativity into their music and videos.

Here comes Peter Cottontail…

As a kid in my Easter outfit...awww

I love spring...and the overabundance of flowers.

As I’m recuperating from a wonderfully delicious Easter dinner of ham, sweet potatoes, kielbasi, bread, strawberry shortcake…and oh so much more… I am am going to wish that everyone else had a wonderful day, whether or not you celebrate Easter.

Sadly, my brothers and I were too old for an Easter egg hunt, but just for the sake of the child in us all, here is a silly online game that requires hunting for eggs:

I also missed the Easter egg decorating again, but here’s an online easter egg decorating game, too:

Of course, I know the true meaning of Easter.  But I must admit, this holiday always reminds me of childhood, more so than even Christmas or Halloween. I think it’s because of the feeling of spring in the air, the feeling of renewal and rebirth. Today it’s sunny and warm–I think one of our warmest days all season so far– so it really does feel like spring.  Also, Easter’s pastel colors, the bunnies, the eggs, the Easter egg hunts… all are so refreshing and youthful. This holidays timing during the month of April, when it is just getting warm here, really is perfect for a holiday celebrating Christ’s resurrection.

Take a breather today, spend time with friends or family, and celebrate life.

Alone Time

I have wonderful friends. I have a busy life. I am even connected to those who are far away via Facebook, cellphones and other technology.

But sometimes, you just gotta be alone…

Pancakes

Nothing like chocolate chip banana pancakes to start off the morning!

Sunday morning was wonderful. My friend came over and delighted my roommates and I with some delicious chocolate chip pancakes. She found some pancake  mix, chocolate chips, bananas, and made them one by one in a pan…until there was enough for us all to split.  They were delicious!

Pancakes are pretty easy to make, but were you to go out to eat, may I recommend but of course IHOP‘s pancakes. IHOP is the International House of Pancakes, after all. Some of my favorites…well chocolate chip of course. BUT even better? Chocolate Chip pancakes with CHOCOLATE BATTER. If that’s not enough of a sweet tooth for you, try the New York Cheesecake pancakes–literally pancakes infused with cheesecake. I’ve had them once. Honestly they’re good to say that you tried them, but a little too sweet & rich for my taste. For something mildly healthier, the harvest grain and nut pancakes are pretty delicious, too. :)

hmm… now if it only rained pancakes…

(Haven’t seen the movie yet. But that was one of my favorite kids books when I was little).

Laughing at your own clumsiness

This one time, I set the camera on instant timer...and tripped. The camera caught my fall. Yes, those are my feet on the ground and my friends laughing at me...

Ok. I admit it. I’m a klutz. I trip over  my own feet, fall up stairs, spill coffee and food on me, drop things, lose things and I have absolutely no coordination at all. Thankfully, I have learned to laugh at myself. What else can you do when you fall in front of a ton of people?

Today, I spilled coffee all over myself … and although it was embarrassing, I still have a sense of humor and I can laugh at myself. :)

And hey… I’m not the only klutz. Check out failblog for some laughs at other people’s mishaps.

Upbeat and fun, Stevie Nicks, “Edge of Seventeen”:

Beautiful and mellow, Bruce Springsteen, “I’m on Fire”:

Real, honest, emotion, Fleetwood Mac, “Go your own way”:

Some of my favorite lyrics ever, James Taylor, “Fire and Rain”:

and speaking of Paul Simon, I hear Simon and Garfunkel are touring this year?

Happy Saint Patty’s Day!

The luck of the Irish? I found this four leaf clover last summer.

In celebration of St Patrick’s Day, I took a little time this morning to learn about the Irish culture…  well sort of.  I’m far from an expert on Irish culture, but here are some tidbits of Ireland I came across this morning:

  • I got a 50 on the National Geographic Ireland quiz…but now I know a little trivia on Ireland’s geography, folklore culture, and tourism. Take the Ireland Quiz.
  • Want to learn how to speak with an Irish accent? Watch this VERY informative (ok, not at all, but very random and funny) video:
  • One of my favorite poets is Irish poet W.B. Yeats. I am also a huge fan of Irish author James Joyce, especially of his novel Ulysses… and while it is a very, very difficult read… I think he is a  genius.
  • Finally, here is some beautiful Celtic music in concert:

I know that’s only a very brief list of some things Irish…. (And since I’m not legal in America, I won’t talk about beer…). If you have any cool Irish links or facts, comment with them here! :)
